To secure a position appropriate to my skills and talents, which include creative project development in magazine publishing, photography, photo editing, book design, web design, digital photo-illustration and retouching.
EDUCATION
Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting and Printmaking)

STRENGTHS
I work well in a team environment and contribute both as a team leader and as an Independent contributor. I am motivated and creative. I have effective problem-solving skills and am an excellent conceptual thinker.
RECENT WORK
• Book Covers Art and Jacket design: In the past 5 years I have created cover art for 75 mass-market novels published by Simon and Schuster, Scholastic Books Group Inc., NAL Penguin and Houghton Mifflin. They include the very successful series’ Murder She Wrote, Twitches and the Spenelli Mysteries.
To complete the assignment I was required to follow the instructions of the art director and then work independently. I would often have to find props, hire and photograph models, research stock photo libraries, and often find shooting locations. I customarily work in a variety of programs that include but are not limited to Photoshop, Painter, Illustrator, Poser, and Bryce.
• Magazine Creation: Chicago Fighting Arts Magazine: Chicago Fighting Arts Magazine 2005 was a 180 page, pocket sized, flip cover magazine. The editorial content included 90 photographs and two-dozen original articles and interviews focusing on the Chicago, boxing and martial arts community.
My contribution includes the concept, editorial oversight, development of the media kit, art direction, photography, cover art, overall design and page layout, and development of companion website www.ChicagoBoxing.com.
As Creative Director and Editor in Chief I worked directly with the managing editor, freelance staff and interns. As important, I developed relationships in the boxing community that made the magazine and website possible.
• Web Design: www.chicagoboxing.com: I created the number one rated website in the boxing community it serves. My responsibilities include site design, content, maintenance and oversight of freelance staff.
The website is over 300 pages of editorial content that includes dozens of articles. Since 2003, I have taken over 10,000 photographs (of those 2000 have been edited and published to the web), covered 40 professional boxing events, press conferences, written articles and interviews.
• Package Design: Carmex and Etymotic: I created a series of package design concept illustrations for Carmex and Etymotic. These were created in a variety of 3d programs in conjunction with Photoshop.
• New Product Promotion: The Swingmaster™: Swingmaster core essentials™ is a product that I designed and for which I hold a mechanical patent.
In 2002-4 I created the marketing materials which included the execution of product photography, graphic design and production, market research, instructional video clips and product features and benefits and a website. The result was that the Swingmaster™ was featured in over a dozen national and international magazine editorials including Time Magazine, Time Magazine Special Health and Fitness Issue, Men’s Fitness, Oxygen Magazine, and Real Simple to name a few.
• Motion Picture Identity Development: VT-4: I created promotional video and logo for VT-4, a major motion picture in pre-development, to be directed by Academy Award Winning Director Roland Joffe [The Mission, The Killing Fields] and consulted on the story concept and artwork with Producer, Screenwriter and Best Selling Novelist Derek Van Arman [Just Killing Time]. This work was for the film production company The True Work, which has two other films in various stages of production.
On the productions side I was required to search sound and image libraries. Selected media where then edited and integrated into a complex flash file.
On the creative side I was given considerable license to determine the look and feel of the animation. I worked directly with Derek Van Arman to make sure the end product was historically accurate, including the thematic elements of the story, and was consistent with his vision.
• Web Site Design: www.chicagoboxing.com, www.lightsaildesign.com, www.itsverycool.com, www.marlysbeider.com, www.johnbooz.com, www.photosbyluca.com, www.dimensionalshift.com
• Performance Photography: 2007 stage performance of Deeply Rooted Productions at the Chicago Theater and the 2006 Gala Chinese New Year Celebration at the Arie Crown Theater.
• Sports Photography: Extensive portfolio that includes professional boxing martial art events.
• Digital Imaging: Extensive portfolio that demonstrates exceptionally high skill level at digital illustration and photo manipulation and retouching.
PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS

I designed and patented the Swingmaster™, a unique sporting goods product that was featured in magazines in the United States, Europe and Asia, including Time Magazine, LA Times, Men’s fitness, Real Simple and Oxygen. I created over 100 book cover illustrations for major publishers.
