The Lady of Shallot
Monday, March 7th, 2011The Lady of Shallot,And down the river’s dim expanse
Like some bold seer in a trance,
Seeing all his own mischance–
With a glassy countenance
Did she look to Camelot.
And at the closing of the day
She loosed the chain, and down she lay;
The broad stream bore her far away,
The Lady of Shalott.
Broken Lost and Abandoned
Saturday, January 1st, 2011Here we see a figure part woman, part antique lead painted figurine, a doll abandoned. As we reflect on our past, we see what we have set aside. What is lost broken and abandoned?

Sunday, April 25th, 2010House of Xi Shi Fall of Wu
Friday, March 26th, 2010Bewitched by the beauty and kindness of Xi Shi and Zheng Dan, Fuchai forgot all about his state affairs and on their instigation, killed his best advisor, the great general Wu Zixu. Fuchai even built Guanwa Palace (Palace of Beautiful Women) in an imperial park on the slope of Lingyan Hill, about 15 kilometers west of Suzhou. The strength of Wu dwindled, and in 473 BC Goujian launched his strike and put the Wu army to full rout. King Fuchai lamented that he should have listened to Wu Zixu, and then committed suicide. In a way Xi Shi killed him with kindness.
Sanctuary
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010David Loew Fine Art ”Sanctuary” is one of my favorite pieces. It has found my emotional core. In this piece, we see a nude figure curled in a fetal position before a partially open door. She is exposed and vulnerable in a dangerous world,. It speaks to our darkest fears and our last refuge.
